Grizabella

1987 - 15th November 2003

Every now and then, we are given a gift.

A gift that has no price or no real value, just a gift.

As time goes on that gift becomes more valuable to only our family.

The gift is unconditional love, understanding and friendship.

The true value is never known until, it is gone.

That gift is our pets, that have been gracious enough to come into our lives

and give us all that they have to give, they ask for nothing in return.

Once they leave us to return home only then is their value truly understood.

They leave us with memories and better people for having them in our lives.

Our pets teach us to be more loving, understanding and patient with others.

Helping to make this world a better place.

Once they leave, we have the promise that we will see them again

when it is our time to return home.

They will be waiting at the door for us, just as they did while they were on Earth.

What we need to do is try to remember the lessons

that only pets can teach and that will be our permanent tribute to them

****love each other, be tolerant

and accept each being for what they are.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

OH Tina, I am so sorry. I know how it is to lose a beloved pet. My heart goes out to you, dear friend. I know when they roam, these things can happen but we just don't like to think of them happening to our best pals. I've lost a few of mine that way and it is not easy. ((((((((((((((((((((((Tina))))))))))))))))))))))

Nana, what a lovely tribute. And so true. I'm reading this and seeing the lovely pictures of Grizzy and crying right along with Tina. I know only too well how it hurts to lose a beloved pet this way. We lost our beloved Spooky to a car October 13, 1998. He was the best natured cat and loved us all as we did him. He also was a black cat. Now I have two more babies to care for and love and I know one of these days, they will be taken too. I just hope it isn't any time soon. LOts of hugs, Tina.

I am so sorry Tina.  She was a beautiful and sweet kitty and loved you very much.  She has been a dear sweet friend for so very long and if she could come to you and purr and make everything right, right at this moment I know she would.

Dear Tina

I am sorry to hear about your pussy. Even though cats are the most detestable abominations on the face of the earth, they are wonderful companions and become a major part of a family. Getting hit by a car is always going to be high odds, I'm sorry it happened. Don't get yourself into a state, save it for when my little sweetness goes, because I am going to lose it big time, and I am going to make sure you all suffer along with me. Special hugs from me.

Hi Tina,

Oh, I am so sorry to her about Grizabella. I too know how special she was because of when we featured her in the Column. She was a beauty for sure.

Poor thing, I know how you must be feeling right now. I sure know how I felt when I lost my specials but they're still with us really and I wouldn't have missed the times with them for anything. Lots of memories and great pictures too like you have.

Hang in there. I'll be thinking of you. I'm always here you know.

Huggles,

Lynette

We all wuv ya, Auntie Tina! Don't worry, all the specials

 will look after Grizabella.

So sorry Tina to hear that sad news about Grizzy - she was a beautiful cat that's for sure. She was lucky that your paths crossed and she lived happily with you all for 16 years.....
There's nothing I can say to console you, I know that -because two of my cats also met the same fate.
Take care Tina.
Love Lesley

So sorry to hear about Grizzy - when I saw the subject and realised there were pics, I thought perhaps she'd died, but wasn't expecting to hear she'd been hit by a car.  How awful after all this time for her to go like that...  They are gorgeous pics of her....

Hi Tina!

Sorry to learn about your cat. It’s very sad to lose a pet you’ve had for a many years.

I thought of myself being a rather tough character when it came to things like that but…..

When our girls were small they were given a dog, a small Fox Terrier, only a few weeks old when we got her. She stayed with us more than 14 years and was a source of joy for all of us (one tends to forget the many times she took off to roam the neighbourhood on her own and we had to go looking for her).

Well, in the end she got ill of course and after a few days of listening to the family saying “give her another day, she might get better, I hade to take her to the “vet”. Of course he could only confirm that she was in a very bad way so I asked him to put her down. I didn’t feel anything at all as he shaved one of her legs a little, filled a syringe with some stuff and injected it. But then, within only a second or two her little head fell down on to my hand, I was hit by something, My eyes filled with water, I got a big lump in my throat, I couldn’t speak, only nod when the vet asked if I wanted him to take care of her body.

In the reception I managed to speak to the girl saying something like “ I thought I was tougher than this”, she said “I’ve seen a lot of big tough looking guys crying their eyes out here”!

All the best and cheers from

Karl

Very sorry to hear about your family pet I know how you feel. We had a dog that was 18 and when she died it was like losing one of the family, I miss her yet today. and that was 8 years ago.                 Jo

Hi Tina

I know how you feel when your your precious cat has been hit by a car. I had a beautiful siamese who was hit by a car and killed.

One thought only comes to my mind is that you have been blessed with grizzy for 16 years of loyalty for taking her in. How lucky you were to have been adopted by her and she has show her gratitude for such a long time. She looked like a perfect cat. *s*

Now you got me in tears as well *sob*
